Mutually Human was contracted by Spectrum Health to implement a redesign and optimization of their existing Smartphone app as it transitioned from one back end service provider to another. I was the project lead and front end developer for the duration of the project. We used the existing tech stack (An HTML/CSS/Backbone.js in a Cordova wrapper that consumed a JSON Data Stream proceeding from a Restful API). I was responsible for implementing new functionality in the app and updating the existing design.

As I became more involved with the project, I began to provide design direction to the team responsible for the visual design of the smartphone app. This included guidance on color, layout, user flow and iconography. I also designed the UI for the app’s new functionality that would allow patients to make appointments directly from their smartphones.

As a result of this involvement, we went on to develop the first version of the customer support web app that I continued as project lead during this phase and continued as front end developer and design liaison with the client organization’s design team. We worked together to solve problems that arose as the development of the web app continued to develop on biweekly development sprints in an Agile management model.
