MyHealth Smartphone App

Mutually Human was contracted by Spectrum Health to implement a redesign and optimization of their existing Smartphone app as it transitioned from one back end service provider to another. I was the project lead and front end developer for the duration of the project. We used the existing tech stack (An HTML/CSS/Backbone.js in a Cordova wrapper that consumed a JSON Data Stream proceeding from a Restful API). I was responsible for implementing new functionality in the app and updating the existing design. See More
Henderson Global Investors

Some past work I had done for financial clients brought Henderson Global Investors knocking. They were interested in an iPad app that would house their marketing assets, allow end users to group those assets and share them through email as well as connect with their salespeople. Although I had worked with a few financial clients to get their content in the App Store, Henderson posed something of an interesting challenge. They made use of dramatic imagery in a lot of their existing design presence, but at the same time had strict corporate brand guidelines that very few of the immediate stakeholders appreciated. I had to balance corporate interests with stakeholder tastes and somehow deliver an intuitive product that would meet the needs of end users. See More
Todoebook iPad App

The iPad is a magical device. Anyone who has handed one to a luddite grandparent and watched them use it with very little explanation can testify to that fact first hand. But for Spanish-speaking iPad lovers everywhere, that magic tended to stop the moment they searched for ebooks on any of the available platforms. Ever tried searching for a book in Spanish on the iBookstore? Try it! The best you’ll get is an unreadable edition of Don Quijote. In April 2010, I approached a multinational corporation headquartered in Sevilla, Spain called Publidisa about developing a platform for buying and reading ebooks in Spanish for their catalog of more than 13,000 digital volumes. After closing out a contract and defining the functionality of version 1.0, I began the Todoebook Project in July of 2010. Read More.
Brand Identity
Gelo

Gelo is a local startup that represents one of Mutually Human’s first forays into the internet of things. Together with Mutually Human, Gelo provides reliable low-energy bluetooth beacons and a stable SDK for developers to add proximity awareness to their iOS and Android Apps. I was tasked with designing a brand identity system that would be robust enough to be applied to everything from smartphone apps to pencils to bluetooth beacons. See More

Dematic Planning and Shipping Control

Dematic approached Mutually Human looking for insight into how to best display information on the picking, storage, buffering, and shipping of products within the plants where they have their software and logistics systems installed. Specifically they wanted ways to improve the usability, efficiency of information, and quantity of actionable data displayed within their existing system. See More
Plan Advisor Tools

Ridgeworth Investments provides free “value added” services to financial advisors as a means of promoting their brand and the expertise of their team of fund managers. One of these services is a website that allows advisors to benchmark different aspects of their clients’ (or potential client’s) retirement plan against national averages. The spec given to me was that the advisor should be able to create a questionnaire, fill it out on behalf of a client or with a client and then be able to print out a professional quality report to give the client. The result is Plan Advisor Tools.

Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce website was a responsive design and development project that became my responsibility midway through it’s execution. Although the interaction and visual design had been mostly completed, the front end development and realization of the custom WordPress theme had barely been started. See More
Ridgeworth Investments

Ridgeworth Investments is one of my agency’s oldest and most demanding clients. Over the course of the redesign of their web presence and the design and release of their first public iPad app, I was able to gain trust with their marketing team and lead two industry award-winning projects. The website underwent a complete overhaul. I performed a content & heuristics audit, IA redesign, guided their team through a UX process and teamed with other designers to bring RidgeWorth a fresh, balanced look on the web. See More
Bebeinnova

Bebe Innova is a distributor of the latest revolutionary child care products in Spain and Portugal. In early 2006, Bebe Innova was founded and has grown 45% year on year to the point that it is now the 4th largest company in Spain of its category. In 2009, bebeinnova.com was in need of a redevelopment of it’s administration back end as well as a restructuring of information architecture. The site had grown organically over time and had been developed and maintained on an “as needed” basis. It also needed a graphically rich front end that reflected it’s growing status as a top competitor on the national panorama.
